Ephemeral Light
Upper Antelope Canyon - Navajo Nation, Arizona (2014)
Slot canyons, scattered throughout the southwest, are primarily formed by flash flooding events. These infrequent floods can sometimes nearly fill the entire canyon. As the rushing water passes through the canyon, it removes sand from the walls and floor, slowly carving the sandstone over time. Northern Arizona is home to the most renowned slot canyon in the world, Upper Antelope Canyon. For about half of the year, when the sun is high enough in the sky, fleeting rays of light will penetrate the depths of the canyon. These ephemeral beams illuminate the beautiful sandstone walls, causing the fiery glow seen here. It is a truly magical place.
Limited edition of two hundred and fifty
