General Sherman - Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Parks, California (2015)
Though standing 275 feet tall with a 102 foot base circumference and estimated to be between 2,300 and 2,600 years old, General Sherman is not the tallest, widest, or oldest tree in the world. However, it is the most massive. By volume, General Sherman is the largest tree in the world, calculated to be slightly more than 52,500 cubic feet. Standing next to this ancient giant was a humbling experience.
