Spring Falls
Panther Creek Falls - Gifford Pinchot National Forest, Washington
Panther Creek rushes toward a drop in the valley before most of the flow makes an abrupt turn and follows a groove in the cliff before plunging nearly 70 feet to the bottom. However some of the stream does not follow this path and flows directly off the edge, as seen on the right side of this image. What makes this waterfall so unique is the large spring immediately adjacent to the main falls that forms a veil of water between fingers of vibrant green moss clinging to the canyon wall. After the spring and stream falls converge, the water plunges another 30 feet before continuing on its journey to the Columbia River and eventually the great Pacific Ocean.
